Development of the port of Itea

As part of the tourist attractions for visitors to HEPTAPOLIS-TRILOGY, especially from and to the European port of Agona, Italy, Itea will be able to play an important role, once its accessible port has been expanded so that modern large cruise ships can dock at its pier.

The modern city of Itea is the second largest city in the Municipality of Delphi and has the potential to become an important commercial and tourist hub.

The city was built and operates according to the Hippodamian system of urban planning, bathed in the crystal clear waters of the Gulf of Krysso.

It should be noted that today’s Itea has a cultural center, a medical center, a port authority, a fire department, and administrative services, a port fund, shops, a bank, and a conservatory.

Development of the port of Antikyra

The development of the Port of Antikyra is a project that must be promoted within the framework of the overall development of the area around HEPTAPOLIS. A large proportion of visitors will arrive by sea, on cruise ships, yachts, or other means of maritime transport.

It should be noted that the port of Antikyra will be connected to the underground magnetic train line on the direct route between HEPTAPOLIS and ANTIKYRA. The development of the Port of Antikyra is an important development project for the region, as it will accommodate long vessels that will disembark a significant number of visitors to HEPTAPOLIS.

For the development of the port, land reclamation (from intermediate point 5 to 6) is required for the mooring of at least 4 passenger ships with a length of approximately 100-120 m. This requires a minimum length of 80.00 m and a total of 120.00 m for maneuvering.

In addition, it will be necessary to extend the existing breakwater using natural materials (natural boulders). The length of the breakwater extension will be 60.00 m.

This creates a large harbor basin that allows for maneuvering and safe mooring of large ships. On land, there will be parking for vehicles, a passenger and service building, a port authority, fencing, etc.

Safety measures include fire hydrants, oil suction pumps in case of leaks, etc. The area will be adequately lit and will ensure the safe stay of visitors within the land zone.

No excavation is required in the maritime zone because the depths are sufficient. The implementation time is 12-16 months. Natural materials will be sourced from the area, while ready-mixed concrete will be produced on site. As part of the necessary studies for the completion of the Antikyra Port project to accommodate thousands of visitors, a large 4-star hotel will be built, as well as large storage facilities for goods.

It is considered necessary to widen the road from Antikyra to Heptapolis in the Desfina area, as well as to the areas of Steiri and Distomo, to allow for faster passage of goods transport trucks and tourist coaches.
